Packing everything in my apartment before I move; which will be the second of 3 or 4 moves this year, egh. But I found my best ever acquisition. About 3 sizes too big now, but I’m living in this over summer.

Mini rant:

Seriously. This was a snapshot taken on a half-broken film camera. It isn’t a masterpiece, and I don’t take myself seriously enough to get butthurt about stuff like this. But DELETING the credit that was already there actually took more effort than just leaving it in. So why delete it? Have you not found one of the many millions of themes with a ‘hide text’ option or something?

To all the people who like and reblog my stuff with credit intact: thankyou. I like you all very much. I check out every single person that follows me, because I’m more interested in the individuals who like what I do than being TuMbLr FaYmUz.

Travel co-ordinator phoned me today confirming my 12 week placement at two monastaries in the areas above Kathmandu. This whole thing is becoming scarily real.

So now I have to sort out CRB, insurance, flights, what to take, what to buy… and I also need to sell pretty much everything I posess, bar my cameras and guitars to pay for flights, booking and survival.

If anyone in the UK wants to buy my (‘77 thru to ‘99) Star Wars merch… I have a room full of it that must go. Literally, a room, floor to ceiling.

And now every minute I have free will be spent learning Nepali. At the same time as Japanese. And the same time as English grammar and teaching methodologies. I don’t have space for any more alphabets in my head.

Oh my.

Hi Rebecka, we've read your call to arms to ignore Booklrs. We understand you have concerns about copyrights. We, however, do too. When we're launched you can read our terms of use and find out we monitor copyright infringment way more active than large webcontent into book services such as Blurb, which is too big to monitor their content at all. If you just don't like our concept, it's fine, but if you only have concerns, please contact us. We're just a bunch of guys. We come in peace ;)

I wouldn’t say it was a ‘call to arms.’

However, if Booklrs have copyright issues covered in a way that protects the content creators, and people who want to use said content, then it seems like everything should work just fine.

My only concern is that creative individuals who work hard to actualise their ideas would be in a far worse situation than before, and that people who don’t understand copyright law would have been put in a position where they’d be open to serious legal action because of an oversight or lack of knowledge of said laws.

It seems like a nice idea, and I’d be interested to see how it works. If it’s a case of people publishing content that they legally own, it’s a great idea. I can’t see how it would work for bloggers who simply ‘curate’ the work of others, though.

I might not be able to free Tibet. But teaching English to Nepalese and refugee Tibetan monks in Kathmandu might go some way to enabling them to tell the world how things really are, without the need for censorship or mediation. At the very least they can become as involved as they like in international affairs, translate the Kan’on from Pali to English, and much more.

I’ll be spending 3 months in Nepal from September working as a volunteer English teacher. This will enable me to gain valuable teaching experience before moving to Japan, and will be an amazing chance to build a photojournalistic portfolio based in an incredible part of the world, with people who have stories to tell. I hope I’ll have the chance to learn as much as the monks are willing to share.

Wish me luck an’ ting. Expect way too many photos of this trip in mid-December.

Today has been fun with post production and remote shutter releases. Life is so much better with a remote.

Silhouette photo is me, church photo I cannot find the source of. I know it was used as the front cover of Lords of Chaos, however.

Today was also good because the dress I’m wearing didn’t fit a few months ago. Raw foods and a daily 5k work wonders.

I have a few rolls of 35mm that need processing (new Canon AE-1 and Miranda) as well as a week long trip to my homeland of Wales at the end of the month (expect extensive landscape shots).

As a new development, now that I no longer have to worry about another person influencing my future plans, I’ve entered a volunteering programme that will mean as of August/September I’ll be spending three months living in Kathmandu, Nepal. While there I’ll be using my English teaching qualifications to teach English to novice and adult monks at a monastery in the Nepalese foothills.

I’ve wanted to see Tibet since I was a kid (Tomb Raider II essentially influenced the half of my life that Studio Ghibli did not). Nepal will be just as amazing, and a large number of the monks I’ll be teaching will be Tibetan refugees. I spend a great deal of time bleating about the ‘free Tibet’ movement; I’m happy that I can finally use my qualifications to make some kind of difference, however small. I also plan to make the most of this trip to build a strong documentary/travel photography and travel journalism portfolio.

In the next few weeks I plan to shoot a small promo for Bloody Mary Metal (http://www.bloodymarymetal.com/) and in late June I’ll be shooting a lookbook for Club Guillotine (http://clubguillotine.com/). I have a model mayhem photographer’s account (Rebecka Wolfe) - anyone interested in either shoot, please get in touch (BMM will be in rural Dorset, CG will be in Bristol).

I’ll also be working on one off art photography shots in my spare time.

After I return from Nepal I’ll be preparing to move to Japan to teach English, take photos and complete one very large tattoo.

That’s about it.
